Dr. Lemmen
Dr.Hugo Lemmen is one of South Africa’s leading practitioners in advanced cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry.
Treating patients with severe reconstructive needs, as well as those looking to improve their natural individual smile or achieve a “ Hollywood” smile , he has made it his personal commitment to perfect the art of dentistry.
After receiving his dental degree from the prestigious University of Pretoria school of dentistry in 1988, he further qualified himself in the fields of orthodontics, implantology, endodontics and cosmetic dentistry, by doing numerous advanced courses locally and internationally.
Since 2000 the practice has been fully committed to cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry with associated side disciplines. He stays current with the latest technology and advances in all the relevant fields of cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry through continued education programs and extensive self-study.
Dr.Lemmen takes great pride in providing the best that dentistry has available when creating every personalised smile. If needed, he works closely with complimentary health practitioners who specialize in their respective fields of dentistry, to give you the best treatment available.

In his spare time he enjoys doing triathlon and running. He has completed 10 full Ironman events, numerous half Ironmans and ran three Comrades marathons. He qualified for the Hawaii Ironman world championship and the 70.3 Ironman world championships on 3 occasions. He has won national age group triathlon titles in different distances and received national age group colours 9 times, representing South Africa in France and Spain at the ITU long distance world championships. He is married to his lovely wife Anné who is also the practice manager and has three sons Jacques, Eduard and Gustav, who are all brilliant academics and sportsmen.
A note from Dr.Lemmen
I want to share with you my philosophy on dental care, and how it has changed since I received advanced training.Most dentist practice and treat according to insurance company’s policies and fee structures, and do not offer patients longer lasting, beautiful restorations, or the latest techniques and treatment options available. This may be because new technology is expensive to introduce and difficult to learn, and they are used to their patients just wanting to fix broken and hurting teeth with something to get them by , often creating problems in other areas of the stomatic system.
Since I have entered into advanced treatment modalities, which require proper examinations with all diagnostic requirements and extensive treatment planning, I can offer my patients far better treatment options with long-term success. When you see the photographs, x-rays and models of your face, mouth and teeth, combined with a comprehensive discussion of your dental problems, you can with my guidance choose the best treatment option available for you. The most frequent comment I hear from my patients is “No one ever showed or told me that”
I use the latest technologies including the revolutionary Cerec 3D for single visit porcelain bonded crowns, veneers and in and onlays, microscopes, radiosurgery, digital x-rays, intra and extra oral digital photography for smile design, Zoom teeth whitening.
To see and experience the change a new smile makes to the lives, self-esteem and overall health of my patients, fills me with pride and gives me tremendous satisfaction. It makes me passionate about my profession.
Dental Staff
All current members of the team have been with Perfect Smile dental studio since its inception in 1990.
Marika, together with Anné, are our administrative officers and work at reception. They handle all account enquiries and appointments. Their voices are usually the first you hear when contacting the practice. Their warm and friendly personalities immediately set you at ease and make you feel part of our family.
Anné doubles as practice manager and financial officer. She readily stands in as dental assistant if Marinda is away from the practice.
Marinda has been Dr.Lemmen’s dental assistant forever. With more than 20 years experience, her passion for the dental field drives her to exceed expectations in patient care. She stays up to date with the use of high tech equipment and techniques, and is highly qualified in all forms of vital bleaching. Marinda enjoys working in a state-of-the-art facility where she contributes to give patients the highest level of treatment and service available in the industry.
Evelyne is in charge of refreshments and several other chores in the practice. She helps Marinda with sterilization and keeping the surgeries immaculately clean.
